Dose anybody own a Sagia 12??

The reason why I am asking is because I want to clarify something.

Is the barrel on that beast a 20 gauge??

Or can that it be fed the same type of shells as a 870???

I am debating picking one up but I might hold back if I have to stock up on a hold new caliber of ammo.

I would prefer to have multiple shotties that fire the same rounds.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Dose anybody own a Sagia 12??

Saiga 12 is a 12 gauge and uses all 12 gauge shells - youd have to double check magnum - but I believe so. They also come in 20 gauge and .410 - that is most likely your confusion there - they do come in other than 12 gauge.

check out gunbroker - always alot up there.

If you are getting one - know that magazines are hard to get and expensive.

MMMMMMMM

I kinda see what you mean...... so if I was to purchase I would have to be very specific when I am talking with the dealer to make sure I dont have to buy a new caliber of ammo.

These guys seem to have mags for all sagias...........and yes they are a good chunk of change.

PM Caligula, he's in love with it! May get one myself, but I'm moving, so I don't know.

Re: Dose anybody own a Sagia 12??

Yeah I just made a few calls to some dealers and it will fire the same rounds

Unless you want the other models 308 etc.

They are coming out with a 12 round mag in December (54.99)for those of you who can get em.

Good stuff.

Re: Dose anybody own a Sagia 12??

Yes - they make the Saiga shotgun in 12 - 20 -410 - is what I was meaning to say. They also make Saiga rifles in 223 and 308 - maybe another or two I am missing.

I'd call and make sure you can get some 10 rounders before getting the gun - or some of the 20 round drums if you are so inclined. Lots of sites say they have them - but they do not really tie in their inventory with web page - so they may not really have them ready to ship.

Jsut sayin' - them 10 rounders make the gun. It will be great to see more on the market - personally I have been holding off on purchasing one til I can find a private party at a show - that 600 for the gun and $60 per 10 rounder is a bit step for it IMO. I might get a 410 with a few clips for 250 first.

Edit - I think you maybe are getting your mind around the guage thing....

so - in rifles the bullet/bore size is measure in caliber ...22 223 .308 ect in chotguns it is measured in gauge .410 20 12 10 gauge. So a saige comes in (3) different shotgun types - 410 20 & 12. If you get a saiga 12 - it will shoot 12 gauge ammo - the same as any old 12 gauge. And there is also the 12 gauge magnum load - a 3" shell - that yes the Saiga will shoot.

there are various models of the 12 gauge saiga - know which one you want/need before ordering.

I'm not a fan.

A buddy of mine has one, and it won't run on cheap china mart birdshot. The same ammo runs in 1100s and 11-87s. Runs fine on some other ammo, but who wants a finniky shotgun?

Plus, what exactly is the advantage over an 870? I can buy 4 for the same price, and they run on ANYTHING.

One thing I am a stickler for .........is putting only GOOD BRASS CASED AMMO through my guns.

There is a reason why cheap stuff is cheap.

I will buy a few crates of cheap stuff but I will use that for barter and selling when you cant find it no more.

You're such a blow hard moron.

Shotgun ammo is in plastic hulls, not steel or brass cartridges.:banghead:

Please, go buy a clue.

No need to be mean to TA, he's doesn't fight with anyone here, obeys the rules of the forum, and doesn't post according to racial preference. Decent guy, leave him be. I think he was referring to hand gun catridges when referring to brass, not shot gun shells. Even if he wasn't, better to educate, than berate, nothing to be gained from insulting and making someone look obtuse. You can learn a lot about a man, by how he chooses to address someone's lack of knowledge in a particular area. You can choose to teach and feel good about yourself or you can choose to be mean and insulting and feel good about yourself. Americans, tend to choose the latter. Maybe You have been working around bullshit too long, given your association with cows or eating too much beef ( Mad cow disease) Please , go buy a clue. :15_1_70v:

What he said. Besides, ever hear of high brass shotgun shells? There is a low brass type as well. I own an Saiga12 and am quite pleased with it. If anyone is having problems with different ammo then maybe they should adjust the gas valve. Nice thing about the magazines is you can load 2.75 and 3" in the same one.

Actually - Eat Beef is right. And shit I spelled it all out there - but apparently rambling and spewing incoherent statements is more fun.

Personally, I would say that Saiga 12 and an 870 are different classes. for home defense an 870 is fine - personally I'd opt for the mossy 500 series ...for the enthusiast - an AK shotgun with 20 round drums or 10 round mags can't be beat.

Also, the talk about ensuring you have the right setting on the gas valve for the type of load you are using. different settings for light and heavy loads - as was said above there.

Here ya go smart guy...There ARE solid brass shotgun shells. While they are not common they are still being made and used. Here's a picture of some old ones and a link to where you can buy new ones. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt

I for one have a diffucult time finding respect for those that so easily show a lack of respect for others. Why so quick with the name calling and berating, especially on someone who never attacks anyone on this board?

Got inferiority issues? JEEZ!

Just asking.

Not sure who you're pointing that at but if it was me let me clarify by saying that I'm perfectly aware that plenty of shotguns feed various ammo. I've never fired a shotgun that ate from a magazine. I would have expected a magazine to be specific to a load. I am impressed that a magazine will not only feed various loads but actually accept mixed loads at once.
It really isn't my fault if my posts appear incoherent to you but you're right about me having fun with it. I'm apparently having a lot more fun than most here.

Re: Dose anybody own a Sagia 12??

For all you hall monitors:

First, I'm very well aware that less than .001% of shotgun shells are brass cased. I actually own collectable ammo. I also know that if TA had ever bought/shot/handled even a couple of boxes of shotgun ammo, he would know the difference.

My point is that TA constantly jumps into EVERY thread, blasting his mouth off about guns/ammo/survival...yet he has no idea what a gas operated rifle is, the difference between a 7.62MM (308) and a 7.62x39, nor has he evidently ever handled any shotgun ammo.

Please, I've tried to educate the guy, but he'd rather spout off about stuff about which he has absolutely no idea. Tell me some more about ammo, mr obvious fraud.:banghead:

But please, the rest of you sheep, continue to follow your guru.:moon:

TA is learning as he is going along man. Just like I am. Cut him some slack. Really why not just correct him and then move along?
